IRON MAN MINISTRY - John Thomas

The Iron Men meet every Tuesday morning from 7:00a.m. until 8:00a.m. in the Church Library. We have coffee, juice and some goodies, and we share some great discussions about a Christian book we will be reading. No one needs to be a "Bible expert", just have an interest in what God is saying to us and a desire to grow in His grace. We really have some great discussions and debates...and we learn so much from each other and from the book we read and discuss. The Bible is always by our side as we use it to "test" the words or conclusions of the author we are reading. (Of course, Pastor Ferdi is almost always there to steer us right if we stray away...).
Just now we are finishing the book "12 Ordinary Men", by John McArthur.....a study of the 12 Apostles......just "ordinary, insignificant" men chosen by Christ to take the Gospel to the world. Chosen, Empowered, and Sent.......
We'll start another book in about 3 weeks...but you can come join us at any time......

A few options:

Re/MAX at Plantation Grove (on Maguire in Windermere/Ocoee next to the Publix) is currently hiring and has had a sign up for quite a while.

There is a great work-from-home opportunity for those with some call center experience and who are computer savvy - Three Stars Media is hiring "Verification Specialists" - I am currently working for them and it is a great opportunity for the right person/people. You need a real passion for helping people get jobs and encouraging them to further their education... that and a great deal of patience... =)

Additionally, the Muscular Dystrophy Association is interviewing frequently in Lake Mary and UCF areas for "Volunteer Recruitment Coordinators" through Apple One Employment --- I also do this part time at the moment. You can contact Alissa Fecteau at their Altamonte Springs location, or Peggy at their Millenia Mall location. If you do, PLEASE mention my name (Rebecca Chacko) --- and contact me right away - I'll give you a GREAT referra, and if you are hired by Apple One for any of their opportunities, they will give me a $50 referral bonus WHICH I WILL SPLIT WITH YOU ($25 for YOU). Yes, seriously. =)

Apple One also hires for many other temporary employment opportunities, so if you aren't a "phone person", check them out. I've done temporary work on and off for a total of about 10 years, and it has really helped out a lot when things have gotten "tight". There are many other temp agencies around Orlando, so if you're really looking hard and can't find anything, check 'em out. JOIN THE MISSION COMMITTEE AND EXPLORE NEW WAYS TO USE YOUR GIFTS!

The mission committee is involved in presenting life changing programs and we need your gifts and talents. Some of the opportunities include programs like the Alpha Course - designed for those who have questions about Christianity. Alpha meets at various churches in Orlando and as far as Titusville. Or, share the gospel at PCOL movie nights or at The Bread of Life in Ocoee every third Saturday of the month. Take a mission trip to Peru the first week of August. We'll be visiting Lauren Woodside and our sister church
in San Augustin-Lima. Are you a part of a Small Group? If not our small groups meet once a month for a time of sharing and fellowship.

Volunteer! Time with children - PCOL

Time With Children (during the worship service)
We need people to sign up for the Time With Children sermon. This is just a 5 to 7 minute story to help the kids learn to be good Christians and to have a better understand of the gospel. We have children’s sermon books in the pastors library and there are a lot of websites with story ideas. Please help with this ministry and sign up in the binder which is in the narthex.

What: Youth mission trip
Where: Wild Wonderful West Virginia
When: August 1st through August 7th 2009
Why: To serve others, grow in Christ, and have some fun!

Dear Parents and Students,
This summer the youth group is going on a short term mission trip to Wild Wonderful West Virginia! This mission trip will offer our young people a chance to serve the people living in West Virginia whose lives have been devastated by natural disasters and by poverty. The students will be repairing homes and other buildings that have been damaged by flooding. They will be painting, cleaning, hammering, roofing, plumbing, etc… and more depending on the skill level of our group. The trip will not be all work we will have one day off and West Virginia is an amazing place to go white water rafting!
Our host for this mission trip is The West Virginia Ministry of Advocacy and Workcamps
Inc. (WVMAW) which is a Christian Ministry supported in part by the Presbyterian Church (USA).

The mission trip is from August 1st through August 7th we will be driving vans and staying in dorm rooms provided by WVMAW. The cost is $210 a person for the week that is not including food and travel. I have applied for scholarships through the Central Florida Presbytery. BREAD OF LIFE FELLOWSHIP FOOD PROGRAM
Car-pooling for the Bread of Life Fellowship will not be available for May, but will resume again in June. We have the opportunity of volunteering for the Bread of Life Fellowship monthly Food Program on the third Saturday of each month at the West Orlando Baptist Church in Ocoee. We will meet at PCOL at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, to car pool, and we should return about 11;30 A.M. Please contact Nancy Meyer at 407-295-0805 if you wish to take part in this worthwhile program.

Labor of Love Ministry - Admin

The purpose of the Labor of Love Ministry is to meet the needs of our widows, single moms, the elderly and disabled individuals by assisting with small handyman jobs, general yard work, cleaning gutters, small paint jobs, etc. We ask that you let us know if you require assistance with a project around your home or know of someone who could use our help. We will ask for donations towards the material used, and the labor. These donations will go towards the Fellowship Hall Building Fund. We will also need fellow members to volunteer to help with these projects on two Saturdays per month. If you are able to volunteer, or can recommend someone; call Gerhard Mostert at 407-854-1947.
